Impact
¡Salud! currently reaches more than 20% of northern Willamette Valley vineyards and their workers with healthcare and health education programs.
¡Salud! outreach programs are funded entirely by the proceeds of the annual ¡Salud! Oregon’s Pinot Noir Auction. Over the years, our event has raised over $6 million to support these programs. In 2007 alone, ¡Salud!:
- Identified 1,949 new clients, bringing our client total to 5,274 people. This represents a 58% increase over 2006.
- Increased the delivery of health services (medical, prenatal, dental and vision) to our vineyard workers and family members by 18%.
- Developed new partnerships with Pacific University School of Dental Health Science and OHSU Dental School.
- Welcomed new wineries and vineyards into the program and provided services to 126 businesses, a 22% increase over 2006.
- Provided mobile wellness program to 902 individuals which is an increase of 23% over 2006.
- Provided 5,846 medical and dental encounters which is an increase of 22% over 2006.
- Assisted vineyard and winery management with occupational health services and advice.
- Provided case management to families and individuals and worked with providers and the clients to reduce incurred medical expenses which resulted in $74,415 in discounts.
- Partnered with Medical Teams International to provide 24 clinics which provided $64,042 worth of services for only $10,000.
- Maintained and established additional working relationships with private health care providers to facilitate access to care, in particular, in areas where community health centers are not available.
- Continued to work closely with other community-based agencies in an effort to reach other members of the Latino community.
- Provided health education workshops to agencies that work with the Latino community which allow us to promote wellness and prevention.
- Presented the ¡Salud! program to national and international migrant health forums, local government agencies and professional health organizations.
- Involved in research projects that are looking at health and disparity issues. This work has increased the exposure of the program to academia interested in our population.
- Continued to support the community health centers that provide care to our clients by offering professional services.
- Involved in various community leadership committees addressing the healthcare needs of migrant, agricultural workers and other vulnerable populations.
- Provided community health clinical site and preceptorship to undergraduate and graduate nursing students and master in public health.
