This limited bottling comes from the original four-acre planting atop Savannah Ridge, established in 2001 and rooted in the very parcel that helped shape Abbott Claim’s international acclaim, including the 2021 vintage recognized by Decanter as the #1 wine in the United States.
Facing gently north unlike the predominantly south-facing slopes surrounding it, the parcel rests beside a dense western forest where a seasonal creek flows and white truffles grow. Deeper topsoil layered over ancient marine sedimentary sandstone, combined with the site’s gentle slope and surrounding canopy, produce a wine of remarkable tension, aromatic lift, and layered complexity. Fermented by native yeasts in large-format oak with 10% whole cluster inclusion, this bottling reflects both the singularity of the site and the enduring identity of Abbott Claim.
Aging:
18 months in in French oak on heavy lees, followed by three months in stainless steel prior to bottling without fining nor filtration.
