Vintage Notes: 

The 2019 vintage was definitely one I’ll remember for a long time. It required anticipation, deftness, and a tight relationship with the vineyard team. I am so proud of everyone’s hard work to pull this vintage off, and it’s a stunner! The wines are elegant and nuanced with fine, focused details. I can’t wait to see what they look like in 10 years.

I usually resist calling a vintage “classic Oregon” but in this case, it’s dead on. These are the kinds of wines that put Oregon on the map and I just love them. – Gina Hennen, winemaker

Vineyard:

This cuvée commemorates Adelsheim’s 50th anniversary, dating back to the 1971 purchase of a beautiful southern-facing property tucked into the Chehalem Mountains—the property that David and Ginny Adelsheim planted to create Quarter Mile Lane Vineyard. Using fruit from the oldest vines on the property, this wine from Block 1 of Quarter Mile Lane, is a study in grace and structure, with focused cherry notes and the promise to remain youthful and elegant for years to come. 

Aging:

The wine was aged in French oak barrels, 33% new, for 10 months prior to bottling

Winemaking:

We like to let our vineyards speak for themselves. We want to make what we most love to drink—ageable, elegant, and complex wines that showcase this small corner of the world we call home. We’re not interested in winemaking techniques that obscure their essential and unique qualities; instead, we prefer to discover techniques that best highlight their distinctive characteristics. We set up and execute a variety of winery and vineyard trials every year in order to learn as much as we can in a given vintage, and then we apply that knowledge and learning to the next growing season. This is a critical process. A winemaker only has 25 or 30 harvests as a key decision-maker in her lifetime, and she needs to make the most of them.
