Chehalem Estate is our newest vineyard, located in the Laurelwood District AVA within the greater Chehalem Mountains. First planted in 2007, the estate is currently 210-acre with just over 120-acres planted to vine, including 17 different Pinot Noir clones. This site is the coolest of our estate vineyards, which means it is often the last fruit to ripen and is well suited to warmer vintages.
Our uniquely crafted 2021 ¡Salud! Pinot Noir Cuvée celebrates the inaugural vintage from our new Chehalem Estate Vineyard. The fruit for this Cuvée comes from one block on the vineyard’s northern back section that is planted 100% to the Pommard clone.
The wine was aged for 10-months in French oak barrels before being racked and blended together in tank. It then went back to barrel for another 6-months to marry together before bottling. Though still just a baby, the wine already shows an energy reflecting the unique attributes and terroir from its source. It’s opulently fruit-forward, dancing between red and blue fruit notes balanced against a dense and serious structure.
