Vintage Notes:
May you enjoy the great complexity, power and beauty that our home vineyard delivers with friends and family in the true spirit of ¡Salud! – Eric Hamacher, winemaker
Vineyards:
Paloma Estate Vineyard was planted as a “clonal masal” or mixed planting of many selected clones of Pinot Noir. It is a South East facing high elevation site on Laurelwood soils located within the Laurelwood District of the Chehalem Mountains AVA.
Aging:
The wine is a blend of two barrels, one new and one two years old. The barrels were air dried for 36 months prior to coopering and lightly toasted. The wines were fermented using only native yeast and bacteria. The wines are to be held on the primary lees for 12 months then racked to neutral barrels for six addition months prior to blending and bottling.
Winemaking:
Our elevation between 600′ and 830’ requires low, balanced yields. It naturally preserves acidity and requires a long hang time that fully ripens tannins and delivers intensely flavored wines. The vineyard was planted with over two dozen selected clones of Pinot Noir to maximize complexity and distinctiveness of the wines from this site. A mixture of red and blue fruits, lilac like floral, anise and white pepper notes dominate the aromas. The palate delivers the promises of the nose that is mouth filling and viscous, held together by fine ripe tannins veiled under bright fruit.
