Vintage Notes:

2019, the “Throwback Vintage”, is a reminder of more classic Oregon vintages and the reason our parents came here over 50 years ago.  A mild summer brought us into the fall with dry weather into September and then the dance began between clear sunny skies and rainy days.  The slow, cool ripening allowed us to retain beautiful acidity and freshness.    We completed vintage late October and are astounded by the lovely wines in our cellar.  Elegant, intensely fruited and low alcohol Pinot Noirs that fully express what the Willamette Valley can achieve in a cooler season.  It was a year where winemakers were required to draw on past harvests and put into practice lessons learned to find the perfect beauty of this vintage.  – Luisa Ponzi, winemaker

Vineyards:

The best in the new Laurelwood District AVA

Notes:

A blend of our oldest sites planted in the 70’s, bringing blueberry, spice and long, grainy tannins, and some newly planted gems just starting to show their potential with lush, forward fruit and silky mid-palate texture.  This cuvée was blended from the best sites and barrels in our cellar and focuses on representing the Laurelwood soils distinct attributes.

Winemaking:

At Ponzi Vineyards our winemaking philosophy is to allow the vintage and site to speak through gentle handling of the fruit. We pride our winemaking process on respecting the will of the vineyard to express itself.
