Wine Notes:
One 12-bottle case of 2008 WillaKenzie Estate Emery Pinot Noir.
In almost any vintage, I believe that Emery can have the potential to produce a compelling and delicious wine. Between its location on the Estate, vine age and clonal diversity, it’s ‘teed up’ to make something worth savoring.
Given that 2008 was a picture-perfect vintage in the Willamette Valley (moderate temperatures during the growing season, a cool fall, low yields, etc.), then the ’08 Emery should’ve had a lot of potential to begin with. And after tasting it, I believe it did.
To me, I felt that this 2008 Emery Pinot Noir was important to share because while it is still youthful and vibrant, it also has an extremely compelling aromatic and textural profile. In other words, it showcases the aging potential of great Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and also happens to be drinking very well right now.” – Erik Kramer, Winemaker
Winemaker Philosophy:
WillaKenzie Estate has been an avid, long-time supporter of ¡Salud! and its commitment to provide quality healthcare to low-income, migrant and seasonal farmworker communities. It’s a critically important cause for us as well as many of our wine industry colleagues across the Willamette Valley.
I am thrilled to help WillaKenzie Estate continue with this tradition by our 2008 Emery Pinot Noir from our wine library. Emery is one of several terroir-specific wines made from different locations on the WillaKenzie Estate and after tasting through several library wines, I personally selected this wine to share with you.” – Erik Kramer, Winemaker
